‘Ayan’ Review!

ayan picAyan, starred by surya and Tamannah, directed by KV Anand and music by Harris jeyaraj is produced by mamoth AVM productions. Ayan’s screenplay does the trick and it is brilliantly choreographed stunts and car chase sequences, cleverly planted twists at every nook and corner of the plot and some good music.

Ayan proves to be an absolute time pass fare. For a little more than two hours, it would be an offense to call Ayan just another commercial potboiler. Director K V Anand’s research is evident in the tightly packed screenplay and do not miss out the potshots he takes at a few directors in the name of plagiarism.

Slipping logic into your wallet would be a good idea before entering the halls, but it’s unlikely that you would regret doing so. And it is highly doubtful that you would have any time to think about it during the course of the movie. Well, pardon the second half for dragging a wee bit though.

The movie starts off with Surya giving a little tongue-lash for Corporate Houses for treating their employees as mushrooms. A minute later, we realize that he is the trustworthy ally of Prabhu, whose business thrives on illegal diamond trafficking from Africa. With clever strategies and an M Sc degree, Suriya flies across the globe to transport consignments sneaking in and out of the airport scanners in style. Read more…

Actor Prakashraj to Play LTTE Chief?

prakashrajMultilingual actor Prakash Raj says he has been offered the role of LTTE chief Vellupillai Prabhakaran in a Tamil film and that he will be doing it.“I would like to perform the role according to the dictates of the script and requirement of the director. I will not do any homework or prepare for this role in details as I think spontaneity will provide better results than anything,” said the actor at an interactive session.

“Acting career is like a journey to me. Acting has been a process of learning to me. You learn many things while interacting with many people. I think any actor will gain confidence and maturity with experience. Working with different directors and the best of the actors make you determined to give the best shot,” he said. Prakash Raj also worked with Bollywood megastar Amithabh Bachchan in two Hindi films – “Khakee” and “Zamanat“ and is all praise for him.

“He is truly a legend. He is extremely patient. He used to call me ‘Kalaakar’ and I enjoyed working with him. Despite his stature, he doesn’t question the decision of a director. I saw him agreeing for the eighth take for director Raj Kumar Santhoshi while shooting for ‘Khakee‘. I was really impressed with his professionalism,” he said.

His film “Mozhi“ won many awards and was also a box office success. “I have made ten Tamil films so far. I would like to take up projects which have a good story. I want to encourage younger talents who want to prove their mettle with their stronger scripts with novelty elements. I’m happy that young directors like Priya, Guhan and Radha Mohan are established names today,” said Prakash Raj.

Tax Changes for Overseas Firms

obama-newAmerican President Barack Obama proposed changing provisions in the tax code that he says encourage U.S. companies to move jobs overseas, as part of a broader package aimed at saving $210 billion over 10 years.

Obama will seek to follow through on a campaign promise to change the tax treatment of American firms with overseas operations. That portion of his plan — opposed by such firms as Pfizer Inc and Oracle Corp — would raise more than $100 billion in revenue over the next decade.

In an echo of a line he used often on the campaign trail last year, Obama vowed in a February address to the U.S. Congress to make the tax code more fair by “finally ending the tax breaks for corporations that ship our jobs overseas.”

Currently, U.S. firms are allowed to defer paying taxes on profits earned overseas if they plow those profits back into their foreign subsidiaries. An array of firms signed onto a letter to congressional leaders in March opposing changes to the so-called deferral provision, saying they would make U.S. businesses less competitive.

Windows 7 Downgrade Option

windows7 Windows 7, the operating system designed and developed by Microsoft, allows users to downgrade their system to lower version of system. It enables the user to utilize this advanced downgrade option if needed.

Downgrade rights have long been a part of the Windows license for certain versions, particularly for businesses. With Vista, the downgrade right was not only marketed by computer makers, but, once Microsoft stopped selling XP, some PC makers sold Vista machines that were “pre-downgraded” to Windows XP.

Microsoft is actually expanding that Vista downgrade rights program slightly, the company confirmed on Monday. Under the new program, PC makers will be able to ship pre-downgraded machines based on anticipated demand for those systems. Until now, computers makers could only ship XP-downgraded machines if a particular customer had specified that is what he or she had wanted.Microsoft plans a similar program for Windows 7, allowing users to go back not only to Vista, should they choose, but also to Windows XP.

Microsoft hasn’t detailed exactly how downgrade rights will work with Windows 7–beyond confirming that users will be able to go back to XP–but presumably the rights will be attached to the Ultimate and Professional versions of Windows 7.

Windows 7 Server to Release!!!

windows_server_roadmapWindows server boss, the prestigious Bill Laing told that the server version of Windows 7 will ship this calendar year. Windows 7 continues to be tracking ahead of schedule. Although Laing’s comments referred to Windows Server 2008 R2 and not to the desktop version, server products traditionally ship after desktop operating systems based on the same code base, owing to greater testing needs.

Although the R2 product is a relatively minor release for the server unit, it still packs more features than he would have expected a year and a half ago.
As was the case with Windows 7, Microsoft shipped a beta version of the server update in January, after sharing it with some early customers in December. The next version, a release candidate, is due soon.

The release is  not far away, but we don’t have a final date yet.Microsoft’s desktop unit has tried to give itself a lot of wiggle room by not committing to launch Windows 7 this year, although it has been working toward that goal for months. I’ve heard that the company plans to finalize the code as early as June if all goes well with the release candidate.
